Intense Pulsed Light

IPL Skin Rejuvenation, Red Vein & Rosacea Treatment, Hyper-Pigmentation. Also known as a ‘Photofacial’, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments effectively treat a variety of conditions on various areas of the body all with minimal downtime.

The Treatment
An intense light passes through to the deepest levels of the skin, generating heat in a targeted area to destroy the offending cells, which cause the imperfection, without damaging the surrounding tissue. IPL also promotes the production of collagen with each treatment, further improving your skin’s texture and quality over time.

How does it feel?
Most clients report feeling a short warm pulse.
Downtime?
Day 1: Possible erythema and red appearance which varies between people. Day 2: A red or pink hue persists like a moderate sunburn. Light swelling may be noticeable on waking and usually subsides as the day goes on. Day 3: Skin may still be slightly pink. The slight swelling has usually subsided. On subsequent days the skin may feel tight and dry and light peeling may occur for up to one week. Pigmentation may appear darker as the pigment moves to the surface of the skin and sloughs off. This can easily be hidden with makeup. It is extremely important not to pick any scabs or peeling skin as this could lead to further pigmentation issues. Your normal skincare program can be resumed after day 3, with more active products being introduced after day 5 or when the skin has returned to normal. Appropriate skincare will be recommended on the day of your treatment to help accelerate the healing process, protect the skin from the environment and enhance your desired results. It is extremely important to apply a minimum SPF30 every day, even if you are indoors
How long does the treatment take?
Between 30 - 60 minutes appointments are needed depending on the area to be treated and the number of passes required.
